1987 - 1998

Note the bands new stage-wear!! And that’s not all, see photo below for even more!!

Apparently these jackets were custom made for them by Kens wife Janet using the famous Buck Owens jacket as the model!!

Billy Hully (pictured right) joined the band as lead vocalist and guitarist following the departure of Alan Plant. Billy had previously played in a number of acts, including ‘Sugar and Spice’, with the most recent prior to The Country Gentlemen being the ‘Wilden Brothers’.

Line-up & Changes

 

1987:

Alan left the band.

 

1987—1998:

Billy Hully replaced Alan on Vocals/guitar.

 

The band line-up remained this way until disbanding in 1998.

 

 

The Bands line up throughout this period ..

l-r  Billy Hully, vocalist/guitarist, Joe Powell, drums and vocals, Kenny Nicholson, Bass guitar and vocals and Michael Gallagher, Pedal Steel.

Throughout this period, the boys continued their residency at the Golden Calf public house in Hesleden.

Pictured here, they are cutting a cake (below) especially made for them at a party to celebrate winning their first CIU Club ‘Oscar’, with this line-up, in 1988.
